Romans 8: The Law Fulfilled in Us
In this message from Romans 8:3–9, we explore how God did what the law, weakened by our flesh, could never do. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, the righteous requirement of the law is fulfilled in us, not by our own effort but by the Spirit’s work in our hearts. The sermon contrasts life in the flesh and life in the Spirit, exposes the illusion of “good people” apart from Christ, and shows that genuine salvation always leads to a transformed life of imperfect but real obedience and love. Drawing from the new covenant promises in Jeremiah and Ezekiel, we see that God gives us a new heart, writes his law on it, and causes us to walk in his ways, so that Christians actually begin to live like Christians, not to earn salvation, but as evidence of it.
