Romans 6: From Slaves of Sin to Slaves of Righteousness

In this message from Romans 6:17-23, we look at the radical change God works in the believer: from slaves of sin to slaves of righteousness. Paul shows that salvation is entirely God’s work: he gives a new heart, breaks the power of sin, and transfers us into a new realm where we become “obedient from the heart” to the pattern of biblical teaching. The sermon draws a sharp contrast between the old life of sin that bears the fruit of shame and eternal death, and the new life that bears the fruit of sanctification and ends in eternal life. There is both comfort for struggling believers, who are reminded that their assurance rests in God’s free gift in Christ, and a sober warning to those who profess faith but have no desire to obey from the heart. The call is to repent, trust Christ alone, and live out the new life God has given.
