Romans 6: Dead to Sin, Alive to God
Jun 29, 2025 • Steve Wayne
In this sermon, Paul’s teaching in Romans 6:1–15 is unpacked through the lens of indicatives (what is already true in Christ) and imperatives (what we are commanded to do. The message emphasizes our union with Christ in his death and resurrection, the call to “consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God,” and the warning not to let sin reign through our passions. Rather than leaning on willpower or performance, believers are called to present their bodies to God in faith, trusting that grace has truly broken sin’s dominion. The sermon concludes by connecting this reality to baptism and communion as living pictures of union with Christ and ongoing covenant with God.
