Psalm 127: Unless the Lord Builds the House

Nov 30, 2025    Steve Wayne

This Advent message explores Psalm 127 and the truth that all human effort is ultimately empty unless God is the one building and sustaining it. The psalm reminds believers that striving, worrying, and laboring apart from God leads only to anxious toil, while those who trust Him receive peace and rest. The sermon connects this principle to family, children, and the church, emphasizing that children are a blessing from God and that Christian homes must be built with Him at the center.

The message then shifts to the larger picture of Christ’s work: Jesus declared that He Himself would build His church, and believers are living stones in that spiritual house. The pastor encourages the congregation to trust God’s sovereignty in their labor, parenting, ministry, and daily life.

The sermon concludes with a personal testimony and announcement explaining the church’s decision to separate from its denomination due to theological differences, while affirming unity in the gospel and a continued commitment to faithfully build Christ’s church moving forward.
